Swadlincote Police say they investigated reports of drivers performing 'donuts' with people on the roof of the cars.

In a tweet by the South Derbyshire Response Unit, police were on the lookout for anyone breaking Tier 4 coronavirus restriction rules last night (Saturday).

But while there was no evidence of donut drivers, police said there was some activity at the town's industrial estate with fines issued in what was thought to be an unrelated incident.

The Response Unit tweet reads: "To clarify essential #Tier4 activity doesn't cover meeting with your mates in an industrial estate to chill. Five fines issued.

"#G3 @swadresponse searched the #Swadlincote estate after reports of cars doing donuts with people sat on the roof. Nothing to say these were involved."
