On-call firefighters from Swadlincote and a crew from Ashby attended a report of a fire at a home in Overseal in the early hours of this morning (Tues).

But when the crews arrived at the property in Edward Street around 1am the call was discovered to be a false alarm.

A Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesman said an elderly male occupant was assessed by the ambulance service and police officers also attended.
