Police and emergency services were called out to the Catchems Inn in Swadlincote on Christmas Eve following reports of an alleged assault.

It was alleged that two people had hit each other - believed to be a man and a woman - after two groups of people had been involved in an argument outside the pub.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: "We were called by East Midlands Ambulance Service at around 10.30pm: "They were attending a call that there had been an assault at the Catchems Inn, in Swadlincote.

"Our officers went and it appears there had been an argument and there were two groups of people outside the pub.

"There were allegations that a man and woman had hit each other. Only minor injuries were reported.

"We are still investigating and nobody has been arrested at this moment."

Police are investigating the allegations.
