Police are concerned about a missing girl, 14, who may have travelled to Birmingham to meet a secret boyfriend she was messaging on Snapchat. The mother of a missing teenage girl from Swadlincote believes she may have travelled to Birmingham to meet a 'secret boyfriend'. And she says she is unsure if Caitin Wright, aged 14, is being held against her will. Caitlin was last seen near a Primark store in Burton-on-Trent's Coopers Square shopping centre, at about 11.30am on Sunday. Her mother says she has spoken to a 'kid' who says he knows where Caitlin is.
Derbyshire Police released more photos of Caitlin yesterday and appealed to anyone who has connections in Birmingham to make it known she is a missing person.
Her mother Claire Keight, 37, of Castle Gresley, told the SWNS agency: 'We'd played Twister on Saturday night and she was fine. We were talking about going shopping on Sunday, she was really excited.
"On Sunday morning we both got up early and she asked me to transfer her Christmas money of £37 into her account, which I did.
"When we went into town she took £30 out in cash and just went off.
"All we know is she took a train to Birmingham.'
"Her friends told us she'd met a boy of around the same age on Snapchat and was going to run away with him. We are getting all these details drip fed from her friends.
"I actually found out the name of the boy she was supposed to be meeting and called him.
"He was just a kid and confirmed he knew where she was but wouldn't say if he had met her.'"
Police say Caitlin has a black nose ring, is described as white, of medium build with long blonde hair, and was wearing a red, white and blue hoodie, black jogging bottoms, a black bandana as a head band and white trainers.
Derbyshire Police said officers are concerned for Caitlin's safety and are urging anyone who knows of her whereabouts to get in touch on 101.
Mrs Keight added: 'She has £7 in her account. We don't even know if she's being held against her will.
"She suffers from anxiety and panic attacks. Her friends said she was going to Birmingham to run away with this online boyfriend we knew nothing about.
"Caitlin has never done anything like this before. She's a good kid and we had a really lovely Christmas. I just want her home safe.'
