Swadlincote Police believe missing teenager Caitlin Wright is in the Birmingham area.

Derbyshire Constabulary issued new photos of the 14-year-old in an attempt to find here

Caitlin was last seen near Primark in Burton town centre at 11.30am on Sunday.

Now Swadlincote Response Unit has issued an update saying officers have been conducting enquiries into her whereabouts all day.

They believe she is in Birmingham and are keen to make it known that she is considered to be missing.

Swadlincote police say that if you have relatives in the Birmingham region, they should be made aware of Caitlin's situation.

It is thought Caitlin she travelled to Birmingham, 28 miles away, and Derbyshire Police is appealing for information about her whereabouts.

She is described as white, of medium build, with long blonde hair.

She was wearing a red, white and blue hoodie, black jogging bottoms, a black bandana as a headband, and white trainers. Caitlin also wears a black nose ring.

Caitlin's mother Claire Keight said the missing girl's friend had told her she was going to catch a train to Birmingham.

Speaking through tears, Mrs Keight said: "I couldn't believe she went and got on a train all by herself, she's such a nervous kid.

"She's done nothing like this before.

"She's a good girl, she's never been in trouble and has never gone missing before.

"She's doing well at school, but is a quiet and nervous girl, and that's why we're worried.

"Her friends said she'd mentioned meeting someone in Birmingham before, a young lad, but I'm not sure.

"We just want her to let us know she's safe, it's just not like her at all.

"We don't know anything, nothing since yesterday, we just don't know."

Police said they "very concerned" for the safety after the search for the 14-year-old moved into a second day.
