A motorist had his car seized by Swadlincote Police - just hours after buying it.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Tuesday as the driver was listening to music on a mobile.

But he explained he had only bought the car that day for £200 and did not think it was worth insuring.

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team gave more details on their Facebook page: "The owner of a Corsa was intercepted by Boniface & Holmes as he was listening to music on his phone.

"The driver told the officers he didn't think it was worth paying for the insurance as he had only purchased it for £200 earlier.

"This excuse didn't fly and the car was seized and the driver reported for the offences with a number of points inbound."
