Swadlincote Police have warned irresponsible motorists to stay off the roads during the current Coronavirus restrictions.
And they have promised 'stern words' for anybody who does not follow the Government's rules.
They emphasised they no-one should be out on the streets at the moment as the battle to contain the virus continues.
Swadlincote Response Unit tweeted on Friday: "Group 2 were out and about tonight around South Derbyshire, stop checking a number of vehicles that were seen out early hours of the morning.
"The majority had reasonable excuses, and had with them IDs and letters stating they were key workers.
"Some were not so responsible."
They added in a separate tweet: "To those who are currently respecting the Government rules and regulations, we thank you.
"However, those who aren't will be getting stern words of advice when stopped.
"Think about other people's lives, your friends and family and our colleagues in the NHS in these strange times."
