30th Aug 2020 | Local News
Swadlincote gardeners have less than a week to get your entries in for the Swad in Bloom Late Summer Online Garden Show.
Swad in Bloom held a Spring Amateur Virtual Garden Show and, following the success of that, it is offering the the chance for green-fingered locals to show off their efforts to try and earn a place in the Swad in Bloom Winners' Gallery.
You have until Friday to get your entries in and there are seven categories categories.
- Flowers/Plants – Enter a flowering plant in a pot or a plant from your garden in situ.
- Flower Arrangement – Enter an arrangement of garden flowers in one vase or container that measures a maximum of 30cm high and 15cm in diameter with flowers facing all around. Fresh flowers and plant material are to dominate your display. The cut ends of all plant material must be in water or water retaining material. Shop bought flowers will be accepted for this entry. OR – enter a 'harvest ring' using fruit, flowers and vegetables.
- Vegetable Display – you can decide what you want to show and how you want to show it, either in a pot, growing in the garden or displayed on a plate once harvested
- Herb Display – a display of at least three different varieties, presented in any way you think appropriate.
- Children's Vegetable Carving / Sculpture Competition – a vegetable 'monster' using mainly vegetables created by the child (age up to 12).
- 'My Favourite Corner of My Garden' – three photographs showing your 'favourite place' to best effect. We recognise that your favourite 'corner' might come into full bloom at different times so take your three photos when you think it is at its best and submit by September 4th.
- 'Something I Really Like in My Garden' – three photographs showing us the thing you really like in your garden – can be a living plant or plants, a pond, a sculpture, a beastie box etc etc.
There is also a £5.00 gift Voucher from Garden King for the winner of each Late Summer Online Garden Show Category.
