A woman was taken to hospital after a two car collision in Church Gresley today (Friday).

Police were called at 3.20pm after reports of the collision in Castle Road - which remained closed for around two hours after the incident.

Although one of the drivers was taken to hospital, the injuries she suffered are not thought to be unduly serious.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: "We were called at 3.20pm to reports of a two car collision.

"The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening or changing.

"The road remains closed but should be open shortly as the recovery of one of the cars has almost been completed."

A Swadlincote Fire Crew also attended along with East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue tweeted: "Crews from @Swadfireblue have attended a road traffic on Castle Road, Gresley.

"This was a two-car road traffic collision.

"Crews made the scene safe and assisted our colleagues at the police and ambulance."
