A suspected drink driver crashed his car in a Swadlincote street overnight (Sunday/Monday) - but had disappeared by the time the police arrived.

Photos posted on social media by Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit show the overturned vehicle after the incident in Wood Lane.

Other images show bottles of alcohol near the car which appears to have hit the mini-roundabout sign.

The RPU posted a message with the photos which reads: "Swadlincote. Car binned it in to a wall.

"Drink likely to be a factor but driver not hung about to face the music."
