By Graham Hill 8th Jul 2020

Swadlincote Police have spoken out following an incident in the West Midlands which saw two ambulance staff stabbed.

Paramedics Michael Hipgrave and Deena Evans were attending a 999 call on Stephens Close in Wolverhampton at about 12.20pm on Monday when the incident took place.

And Swadlincote Response Unit reacted angrily on Twitter.

They posted a message which emphasised the seriousness of the issue.

It read: "Incidents like this make our blood boil.

"We work very closely with our colleagues in the Ambulance service, and treat them like they're part of a family.

"Attacks on ambulance service crews WILL NOT be tolerated in any way, shape, or form.

"And those responsible will be dealt with."

Assistant Chief Ambulance Officer, Nathan Hudson, said: "Thankfully, both Michael and Deena are recovering well after yesterday's ordeal.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the hospital for their assistance and for looking after my members of staff in such a professional and caring manner."
