Volunteers in Overseal are working with police to try and slow down traffic in the village.

Swadlincote Police have been assisting the group and are keen to help other areas who want to set up a similar scheme.

The main A444 runs through Overseal and there are speed cameras in place to keep the speed to 30mph - along with a set of traffic lights.

The Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team posted on social media about their meeting with the volunteers on Monday.

Their post reads: "PC Dave spent some time last night showing some important volunteers in Overseal how to use our speed gun.

"Members of the community there have come together to assist in improving the safety of their roads by helping to lower speeds in the area.

"Good luck and thank you to these guys, hopefully we'll see you out there soon.

"If your area is looking to get together and form a group, then message us for the attention of PCSO Coldicott who will be in touch."
