Two Arrested After 16-Year-Old Is Robbed At Knifepoint In Woodville

By Graham Hill 1st Jul 2020

A 16-year-old boy was reportedly assaulted and robbed at knifepoint for his Apple Air Pods in Woodville on Tuesday.

And Swadlincote police have made two arrests following the incident.

It was reported that at around 7.30pm,  a 16-year-old boy was assaulted and threatened with a knife on the Woodlands park on Swadlincote Road, Woodville, by three other young men.

The boy's Apple Air Pods were stolen.

Two 17-year-old young men from Burton-on Trent were arrested nearby and are currently still in custody to be interviewed.

Derbyshire Police are trying to locate and arrest a third suspect.

A knife has also been recovered.

Inspector Chris Thornhill, who is in charge of policing in South Derbyshire, said: "Thankfully this type of crime is very rare in Swadlincote but it must have been a very frightening experience for the young victim who is now recovering at home with minor injuries.

"My officers attended quickly and as a result two suspects were arrested and a knife recovered, we are now trying hard to locate the third person involved.

"I would like to thank those that helped my officers last night and also urge anyone who saw or knows anything about this incident to come forward and speak and help with the investigation that will now continue.

"The local Safer Neighbourhood team will be making additional patrols in the area to re-assure the community that we are determined that we will be working hard to ensure there are no further such incidents."
