Swadlincote Police Send On The Run Prisoner Back To Jail When His Car Gets Stuck On Dirt Track

A man wanted by police after going on the run from prison has been found by Swadlincote police after his car became stuck on an off-road track late at night.

Police discovered the driver was drunk and had no insurance.

He told officers he had driven to the location 'to see the aeroplanes'.

But they then realised it was on-the-run Callum Hogg, 24, who has connections to the Willington and Swadlincote areas.

Police issued an appeal for information on Hogg earlier this month - and he is now back behind bars.

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team's Facebook page explained what happened: "When you have driven down a dirt track at midnight and got stuck, make sure you're not drunk and that you have insurance.

"When the officers ask you: 'What are you doing down here?', don't reply: "I have come to see the aeroplanes!".

"Unfortunately, the driver was Callum Hogg, 24, who you may have recently seen an appeal for.

"Hogg was wanted on a recall to prison. Group 4 response officers booked him a one way, first class flight to prison."
