Police seized a cannabis plant from home in Church Gresley - after the owner had it displayed in their front window.

Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood Team revealed details on their Facebook page.

And they admitted the homeowner was astonished to find out that even one cannabis plant was illegal.

Especially one that was so clearly visible to passers-by - and the police.

The SNT post said: "Today they visited another address in Church Gresley.

Knock, Knock, what's that plant in your window?"

"It's only one"…

"Cannabis is still an illegal drug so why would you put it on display!"

Swadlincote officers also raided a house in Overseal.

Their social media post, written with typical comedic value, added: Recently they attended an address in Overseal: "Knock Knock.

"Who's there?"

"It's the Chuckles, can we see how your garden grows?

"Cue a bunch of mature and recently planted cannabis plants being found and seized."
