Police have been called out to incidents involving youths causing problems in parks around the Swadlincote area.

And they have reported youths as young as 15 have been found drunk and smoking cannabis.

It has prompted Swadlincote Police to issue an appeal to parents to ask if they know what their children have been doing.

Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood Team have describe a busy holiday weekend for officers.

The SNT Facebook page gave more details and said: "On May 28, SNT were called to a group of 15/16 year olds that were drunk and running in front of oncoming traffic near the skate park.

"One drunken 15-year-old thought it was ok not to give her details to Pc Saddington. Think again. Luckily no one was seriously hurt!.

"On May 29, SNT were also called to an incident of ASB on Newhall Park, on attendance a small group aged 15/16 year olds scattered in different direction.

"Two of the group involved were detained and Cannabis found in their possession.

"On the same night under age drinking and ASB was reported on Gresley Park.

"The team attended Newhall Park today (Monday) to find empty beer cans and broken beer bottles all over skate park.

"This broken glass could have caused a serious injury to other park users or their pets.

"The Sergeant and Dean cleaned up the area with help of Lucas, Harry and Alex now these are the youths that make us proud and care about our parks.

"The rubbish was placed in a near empty bin 10ft away from the skate park.

"Parents it's time to take some responsibility and ask yourselves what are your children doing out so late?

"It is not okay for your children to be drunk, running in front of oncoming traffic and smoking Cannabis at the age of 15?

"The parks will be a priority for SNT during half term."
