Swadlincote Police have rewarded a local girl for her honesty after she found some money and handed it in.

The town's Safer Neighbourhood Team praised the actions of Zara who found five pound coins in Swadlincote.

She gave them to her local PCSO - and when the money was not claimed, the SNT sergeant Tarj Nizzer decided to give her the money back.

A post on the SNT's Facebook page reads: "The future of our youth community looks bright.

"Zara the shining star, found five-pound coins in Swadlincote.

"Doing the right thing she handed the money over to her local PCSO Dean.

"Zara's mother, Debbie was very proud of her for handing the money in.

"Despite our enquires the owner was not located, the money would normally be destroyed or banked.

"The Sergeant decided to return the money to Zara, as a thank you for her honesty.

"The Safer Neighbourhood Team also bought Zara some treats also to enjoy.

"We are proud to have young kids like Zara in our community, well done Zara."
