Swadlincote Police are urging the public to report any attempted house or vehicle break-ins in the area.

They believe that, despite a number of such incidents, the police are not being alerted to most of them.

Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood Team made an appeal on social media and said: "We believe there has been information recently shared on social media about people attempting to get into houses and vehicles in the Swadlincote area.

"Unfortunately only a small minority of these have been reported to the Police.

"These incidents need to be reported to us so that we can see where the incidents are occurring and so that patrols can be sent to that area to try and locate the suspects.

"If you have recently been involved in a suspicious incident at your property please report it via one of the below methods.

"Please do not send the details to ourselves on a private message. As stated on the automatic reply, the inbox is not monitored 24/7.

"Details can be sent to the main Derbyshire Constabulary Facebook page if you wish.

  • Facebook – send a private message to /DerbyshireConstabulary
  • Twitter – direct message the contact centre on @DerPolContact
  • Website – complete the online contact form Contact Us .
* Phone – call us on 101.

You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
