Swadlincote Fire Blue crew were called out to a collision between two cars in Newhall on Thursday night - which saw one driver 'so drunk' he was arrested at the scene.

They were joined by a crew from Ashby and the pair dealt with the incident which happened just before 9pm at Wood Lane.

East Midlands Ambulance Service took over and made the scene safe before handing over to Derbyshire Police.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit later tweeted: "Newhall, Swadlincote. Two vehicle collision - one uninjured but drunk driver so he's arrested."

They confirmed that a driver had to be extricated from the vehicle but added: "Fortunately only minor injuries. #DontDrinkAndDrive #Fatal4"

Police later updated that Scott Ebbutt, 30, of Tutbury Road, Burton has been charged with allegedly drink driving in Newhall.

He will appear at court in February 2020. Good arrest by #Group4 and investigation by #Group1 and our Custody investigation unit.
