Derbyshire's Chief Constable Peter Goodman and Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa joined officers from Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team or a patrol of the town centre.
They wanted to learn more about the area, and were stopped by a number of residents who wanted to discuss issues and important matters in their community.
Derbyshire Constabulary said that one man reported anti-social behaviour issues outside of his property, and officers were able to log the incident straight away by using their mobile devices.
Chief Constable Goodman was also stopped by an ex-prisoner, and discussed ways to make sure he does not revert back to committing crimes.
Mr Goodman said: "It was been great to meet so many Swadlincote residents and hear their views on what is important to them.
"My officers, along with the Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner, are committed to making the area a happy and safe place to live, and we will only do that by talking to the people that live there."
