The former Rising Sun pub in Woodville is set to be turned into a new detached house.

A planning application has been submitted to South Derbyshire District Council which would see the site converted.

The land is at 14, Sun Street, and the redevelopment includes the demolition of toilet block and former kitchen so that a new dwelling can be built there.

Am amended site plan has been submitted - and the consultation deadline is January 10 with a decision expected in February.

Two years ago, the What Pub website described The Rising Sun as: "Basic but comfortable side-street Victorian local with linked main bar and pool room in L-shape.

"Increasingly popular and lively through efforts of new landlady, with karaoke, disco or live music most Friday and Saturday evenings, plus occasional parties."

The planning application reads: "Proposed change of use of the former Rising Sun Inn into a detached dwelling including the demolition of toilet block and former kitchen and the erection of a new dwelling on former car park at 14 Sun Street, Woodville, Swadlincote, DE11 7DP."
