Woman freed from overturned car by emergency services after crashing in Moira

A woman had to be freed from a car after it overturned on Ashby Road in Moira this afternoon (Tuesday).

Police and ambulance services were on the scene just after 1.30pm and the road had to be closed off.

Fire crews from Ashby and Swadlincote were also called to the incident which involved one vehicle.

The woman suffered minor injuries - with no other injuries reported.

The crash happened close to the junction with Blackfordby Lane in Norris Hill - and the badly damaged vehicle was being recovered during the afternoon.

Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service said: "A call was received reporting single vehicle involved in Road Traffic Collision.

"One person trapped after vehicle had rolled."

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said: "Around 1.30pm on Tuesday (June 15), officers received a report that a car had overturned on Ashby Road, Moira.

"The road has been closed while officers attend along with colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue.

"A woman is being treated for minor injuries. No other injuries have been reported.

"The road will remain closed while the car is recovered."
