Swadlincote police arrested a Newhall woman for drug offences - after she handed a wrap containing what was suspected to be a Class A substance over a 6ft fence to a police officer by mistake.

The shocked 52-year-old soon realised what she had done and has been interviewed by police with the investigation is ongoing.

Swadlincote SNT's Facebook gave details of the incident and indicated that Heroin was involved.

Their post reads: "It was probably inevitable that our very own crime fighting duo, Batman and Robin, would eventually be joined by an SNT heroine.

"While patrolling round the back alleys last night, one Newhall resident provided Batman with a heroin of a very different kind, when she mistakenly handed over a wrap suspected to contain the class A drug.

"PC Wheldon arrested a 52-year-old female for a number of drugs offences relating to the incident.

"She has since been interviewed by the team and the investigation is ongoing.

"It seems Stranger Danger has a new meaning for our suspect now, who we're sure in the future will double check who they are dealing with and maybe rethink using a 6ft fence as their Covid barrier.

"After all we're pretty sure from her reaction that she wasn't expecting the recipient to be us."
