Man set for crown court appearance after incident at Swadlincote tyre fitters

A man was charged with kidnap after he threatened staff and members of the public at a Swadlincote tyre fitters.

Jeff Taylor, aged 31, of Moira Road in Swadlincote, was arrested and then charged with Kidnap, Affray and Criminal Damage following the incident which happened earlier this month.

He has been remanded to appear at Crown Court on December 10.

Swadlincote Police posted details on social media and said: "On November 11, at approx. 19:00hrs, Safer Neighbourhood officer Jo Saddington, Sgt Stafford and team attended an incident on Moira Road, Swadlincote.

"A report was received of a man who had gone into Kwik Fit tyres, and threatened staff and members of the public, before running out.

"Pc Saddington arrested a male nearby on Burton Road, several members of the public came over to see if the officers needed any assistance.

"The investigation was picked up by our Custody investigation team officers Sgt Munro & Pc Morton."
