Man arrested after assaulting member of staff in Swadlincote supermarket

A man has been handed a 42-day custodial sentence after assaulting a staff member in Morrisons in Swadlincote.

Police say Adam Higton, 42, was already wanted for a theft in Boots two days earlier.

But when he stole again from the supermarket, he was arrested.

Swadlincote Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team Facebook page explained: "Adam Higton, 42, was wanted for a theft at Boots where on May 13 he entered the store and stolen make up.

"On May 15, he stole from Morrisons and assaulted a staff member in the process.

"Group 4 LPU and SNT attended this incident and Higton was arrested by PC Saddington.

"He was dealt with by our custody investigation team who charged and remanded Higton to appear at the Magistrates Court on May 17.

"He was handed a 42-week custodial sentence."
