6th Jul 2021 | Local News

Work on the new Woodville to Swadlincote Regeneration Road is on course to be completed later this year.

The constructors have confirmed their summer timeline and how the area's residents will be affected over the next few months.

Derbyshire County Council and builder nmcn say this is the overview of the Build Programme - allowing for some variations depending on progress made:

  • Occupation Lane to the Kiln Way cul-de-sac – Completed May 2021
  • Work to modify and improve Kiln Way – began May 2021
  • Complete Derby Road roundabout – expected September 2021
  • Complete Kiln Way section – expected September 2021

For Occupation Lane in Woodville

  • No works are planned on Occupation Lane during July.

  • Please note that the new link road is only to be used for accessing the businesses on Kiln Way, it is not yet public highway. There is no through route to Woodhouse Street and Derby Road. Please observe the

10mph speed limit and drive with consideration for our workforce if using the new road.

  • Midland Lead, JMC Roofing and the businesses within Muldoon's Yard on Kiln Way are now using the new road to access their premises as part of the reconstruction of the road along Kiln Way.
  • Landscaping work will continue around the new ponds, which are being lined with clay.
  • Street lights are now in place alongside the new road. Work continues to connect them.

There will be developments concerning Woodhouse Street in Swadlincote

Towards the end of July, there will be a temporary closure of Woodhouse Street, immediately

south of its junction with Kiln Way, to enable the final phase of Kiln Way to be reconstructed, and to tie in with the new roundabout junction.
