Swadlincote Police had to clear groups smoking cannabis and riding e-scooters in breach of Covid-19 rules at the town's Skate Park on Saturday evening.

Patrols were out until midnight at parks in the area.

But, while it was mainly quiet during the first weekend of the second national lockdown, it was the skate park where police had to disperse groups.

Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood 'Lone Ranger' team reported that coronavirus rules were being broken.

A message on the SNT Facebook page reads: "Smoking cannabis is not a legal reason to meet your friends and riding e-scooters is not a form of exercise.

"The lone rangers, Sergeant Nizzer and PC John chuckle Anwar were on patrol until midnight.

"The mains parks were very quiet and no reported incidents.

"On attending the skate park there were groups sitting together not from the same household, and breaching Covid regulations.

"Whilst the Sergeant was dealing with Covid breach, John Chuckle Anwar smelt cannabis!

"The group were dealt with and left, the officers then came across another group on e-scooters, riding your e-scooter is not a form of exercise.

"The skate park was left empty!

"Please look HERE for the latest lock down restrictions.
