Four Day Emergency Road Closure Planned For Swadlincote Route From Friday

A Swadlincote route is to be closed off completely this weekend while emergency works take place.
Woodhouse Street will be closed from tomorrow (Friday) until Monday, February 1 as part of work on the the new roundabout with Derby Road.
The work is part of the new Woodville To Swadlincote Regeneration Route.
But a spokesman for constructors nmcn said the need for the emergency work only became apparent when Severn Trent began an excavation.
A printed copy of the notice was being delivered today (Thursday) to nearby addresses
And any questions anyone, or the affected local businesses, may have will try to be answered.
The notice reads: "Emergency works have become necessary this weekend. This is to inform you
about the restrictions that will be in place "Severn Trent Water and Cadent Gas are currently working on Woodhouse Street, diverting the mains services in preparation for the new roundabout with Derby Road. "Temporary traffic lights were planned, to allow the Utility companies to complete their work, while keeping one lane open for traffic. "While excavating around their water main, Severn Trent Water have found a necessary piece of work that requires them to work on both sides of Woodhouse Street. "This means that we need to make a full closure of Woodhouse Street "From Friday 29 January 2021 to Monday 1 February 2021- On Friday & Saturday: the closure will be between Kiln Way & Derby Rd
- On Sunday & Monday: the closure will be between Kiln Way & Pool Street
"Access to Kiln Way may be reduced to one lane during part of the work."
