Driver stopped in Woodville tells police they can 'keep his car'
Swadlincote Police were told they could 'keep the car' after stopping a driver for motoring offences.
Officers spotted the vehicle in Boundary, near Woodville, and the driver had no insurance or MOT.
But the motorist clearly felt it was not worth keeping hold of the car, as Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team explained on social media.
The post reads: "TV celebrity SNT officer Pc Holmes was on patrol when he was notified of an uninsured vehicle at Boundary, Woodville.
"Pc Holmes stopped the driver, and discovered the vehicle had not been insured since February when the policy expired.
"Double whammy - the vehicle had no MOT either.
"The driver was reported for summons, Pc Holmes was not expecting the next comment in his script from the driver: "We could keep the ******* car" before he walked off!.
"Well, if you do not produce the insurance and Mot we will be keeping the car."
Swadlincote Police have also highlighted the problem of illegal parking in the area once more.
They believes parking such as this in the photo here, puts the public in danger.
They said: "Folks, you were warned we were getting several reports of vehicles completely blocking the pavement on Swadlincote Road.
"This driver will be notified."
"Ask yourself how is the public meant to get past this vehicle without walking into the road and potential endangering themselves and other road users?"
