Swadlincote Police have shamed a driver whose parking blocked the driveway of a disabled person.

The car was situated partway across the access meaning the householder could not get out of the drive in Nelson Street.

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team took a photo of the car and posted it online, saying: "SNT officers Holmes and Dean were called to Nelson street, Swadlincote where a disabled person could not get off his drive due to an inconsiderate Nissan driver blocking his access.

"Despite warning signs, the vehicle was left for over 24 hours.

"The officers tried to find the owner without success, the vehicle was eventually seized and several important medical appointments were kept.

"We are getting several reports of vehicles blocking pavement access for pedestrians, please park sensibly and avoid a fine".
