A disqualified driver was caught on the road in Church Gresley - one week before being able to apply to get their licence back.

Swadlincote Police spotted the motorist in the town on Thursday before stopping the vehicle in York Road.

Photos of the car being taken to the police compound were posted on the Swadlincote SNT Facebook page.

The driver was reported for driving while disqualified.

Swadlincote SNT gave their version of events on Facebook and their post reads: "What do you not do when you have been disqualified from driving and have one week left to go before you can apply for your licence back?

"Unfortunately this driver got the wrong answer and has been reported for driving whilst disqualified.

"After first being seen by PC Dave this morning, the vehicle then bumped into Reece from the Police who was dealing with a road traffic collision on School Street.

"Luckily The Rookie and Megatron were right behind to get the vehicle stopped on York Road, Church Gresley.

"One vehicle off to the compound and an all round good teamwork job."
