Swadlincote Police have made it clear the Coronavirus lockdown has not ended - and that they will be on patrol over the Bank Holiday weekend.

There has been widespread speculation that Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce an easing of the current restrictions on Sunday.

But they are only expected to be minor changes and police in the area are keen to make sure people stock to the 'Stay At Home' message and maintain the social distancing measures currently in place.

The town's Safer Neighbourhood Team posted on their Facebook page on Thursday: "Thank you to all of you that are continuing to follow the lockdown guidelines.

"We know that there are only so many rooms you can clean, sheds you can paint and times you can cut the grass.

"But we're asking you again to stay at home.

"Lockdown has not yet been lifted!

"Our officers will be out and about patrolling over the Bank Holiday weekend."
