The Safer South Derbyshire Partnership says it is worried that people in the area - especially teenagers - are not social distancing in the current Coronavirus crisis.

A message from PC Paul Trussell has been posted on to its Facebook page and warns of the dangers of refusing to self-isolate and following Government guidelines.

The message says: "Thank you for the majority of people staying home and adhering to the Government orders.

"However we're are still receiving reports of groups of people, including teenagers, who are in groups of two or more and are not social distancing.

"When exercising, you are only allowed out with members of your own household and to be local.

"Parents, family members, friends, please educate your teenagers or your children.

"Do you know where your child is today?

"Follow the Government order! Stay at home! Stay safe! Protect the NHS, and thank you for helping us to keep Derbyshire safe.

"We go to work so you don't have to."

Last week, South Derbyshire District Council issued the following warning: "We're reminding residents that during the current #coronavirus #COVID19 restrictions, our parks remain open for people to take exercise but all playgrounds, outdoor gyms, games areas and picnic areas are currently closed.

"You must not gather in groups of more than two people in the parks not including people you live with."

The Partnership has also received reports of increased dog fouling on footpaths in the Walton in Trent area near to farmland.

It is urging the public to remember to take your dog poop bags with them if walking their pets, and dispose of it correctly.

A Facebook post adds: "Whilst the majority of dog walkers are responsible, there is a few that are not, if you do witness anyone not clearing up after their dogs, you can report them to the South Derbyshire District Council Environmental Health team."
