Swadlincote, Church Gresley and Newhall residents are invited to to join forces and take a stand against litter as the Great British Spring Clean returns for 2020.

South Derbyshire District Council is supporting this year's Great British Spring Clean run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

The month-long event takes place from Friday, March 22 to Monday, April 13 and is set to be the biggest environmental event of the year.

Keen litter-pickers can get involved by registering on the Great British Spring Clean website and support the ever-growing list of clean-up events taking place across South Derbyshire.

For those who have registered their event on the Great British Spring Clean website, the council will loan litter picking equipment, including litter picks, gloves and high visibility vests; provide standard refuse bags which we will collect afterwards.

Litter picking equipment will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.

Anyone interested in setting up or getting involved with the cause across South Derbyshire as a #LitterHero should register on the Keep Britain Tidy website which also includes a supply of useful resources and guides for those taking part.

In South Derbyshire the work will also include a series of key messages on social media with the #LitterHeroes, #SouthDerbyshireHeroes and #GBSpringClean hashtags.

To find out more about volunteering opportunities in the area, contact South Derbyshire CVS on 01283 219761.
