A black Mini was forced off the road near Hartshorne as a result of a speeding driver.

Swadlincote Police have been carrying out speed checks in the area - and used this incident as an example of why they do it.

Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood Team's posted on social media and said: "We know the speed checks do not please everyone.

"However, the driver of the Black Mini was travelling along Ticknall Road when they were forced off the road by a speeding vehicle.

"The Mini ended up in the woodlands.

"Luckily, no one was seriously hurt."

Swadlincote SNT say they are planning more speed checks and added: "PCSO Edwards & PC Morris, with the help of our CREST team, have been out conducting speed checks on Woodville Road and the A511.

"No speeding was found on Woodville Road.

"However, five vehicles were found to be speeding on the A511, within a 30-minute period. The drivers will be notified by post.

"Your Safer Neighbourhood team will continue with the speed checks at various locations in the coming weeks as requested by our community."
