With the current Coronavirus lockdown in place, the roads are less populated.
But that has given Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood Team good reason to try and clamp down on anyone who thinks that they put their foot down as a result.
And they said Sandcliffe Road in Midway produced the worst offenders with almost a quarter being trapped by the speed gun.
That compared to just seven per cent on nearby Park Road in Newhall.
And they warned speeding drivers that they will be out again on Friday evening.
Swadlincote SNT posted on their Facebook page on Friday.
They said: "This morning we have been out with the speed gun on Sandcliffe Road and Park Road, in Newhall.
"On Sandcliffe Road almost 24 per cent of cars were caught speeding, and seven per cent on Park Road.
"We have a team out this evening who will be checking the speed on more roads.
"We've also seized three more vehicles that were being driven around without insurance.
"In addition to this, we have picked up a lot of our normal area patrols, checking in on an empty skate park on our way."
