An 11-year-old child was airlifted to hospital this morning after being hit by a car on the A444 at Castle Gresley.
Derbyshire Police were called just before 7.40am to attend the collision.
A serious road accident has blocked the A444 into Burton this morning.
Social media reports say an air ambulance has been called to the incident which is close to Toons furniture store.
Plans for another eight plush holiday lodges in the countryside near Bretby have been submitted.
The application, from Dean Willshee, would see eight further timber holiday cabins built on the Knights Lodges development in Knights Lane, north of Bretby.
Swadlincote Police say they have cancelled today's Van Security event due to be held at the Old Council Depot Car Park in Darklands Road because of storm Ciara.
The event was to talk about van alarms and tool marking and was due to start at 2pm.

Swadlincote Police have condemned those involved in an incident on Thursday at a town centre lift - saying they were a 'waste' of two local emergency services.
Police and fire services had to go out to the pubic elevator at Morrisons because people were stuck inside after it stopped.
Derbyshire Police are appealing for witnesses after an alleged assault in Woodville where a man was punched in the face.
A 33-year-old man has told police that he was assaulted by another man when in Smal Thorn Place at around 4.20pm on Friday, 17 January.
