Woodville Surgery is asking all of its patients to wear face masks from next Monday.

The message has been issued to anyone attending the surgery to protect other patients and staff from Covid-19.

And it has been made clear that even a home made face covering or scarf will be acceptable.

The surgery posted on its Facebook page on Thursday that masks must be worn from June 15.

The message reads: "Whilst we still continue to limit the number of people entering the surgery, in accordance with new government guidance, we are now asking if possible, that all patients wear a face mask when attending the surgery for an appointment or for any other reason.

"This will help protect other patients and our staff from transmission of COVID-19.

"All our staff will continue to wear PPE including medical-grade masks for all face-to-face appointments.

"Face coverings do not need to be medical-grade masks but a scarf or a 'home made' mask are acceptable and could help prevent inadvertently passing on the virus to others if you have COVID-19 - whether or not you have symptoms.

"Children under two are not required to wear face masks and children under five do not need to wear face coverings if they cannot use them without assistance."
