Central England Co-op has teamed up with a mental health coach from Swadlincote and a Burton-based fitness instructor to help people keep physically and mentally fit at home during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Co-op, which has dozens of stores across Burton and South Derbyshire, has launched two specially created online tutorials as part of a new campaign called Take 5 in the Community.

Swadlincote-based mental health coach Claire Reeves is featured talking about ways to stay mentally fit during the lockdown and Cat Stuart, from Burton, has come up with exercises for the over 60s.

The online video campaign is all about giving Members and local businesses a platform to share their expertise and help their communities during this uncertain time.

Cat Stuart knows how important it is for those aged 60 plus to keep moving, especially during lockdown.

She said: "From the age of 50 onwards, we naturally lose about one per cent of our muscle mass every year which means our strength deteriorates too.

"For those who are inactive, this loss of strength occurs at a faster rate so it's really important to incorporate some strength exercises into your daily routine.

"One top tip is to try the 'cuppa' routine, where you do five simple strength exercises while making a cup of tea.

"If you make five cups of tea a day, this will really give your muscles a good work out and keep you feeling strong. As they say, if you don't move it, you'll lose it."

People can listen to Claire's tips by viewing the video above.
