The final Music in the Park event due to be held this Sunday has been cancelled as one of the band has tested positive for Covid-19.

The event would have been the fourth live music family day at Maurice Lea Memorial Park in Church Gresley.

A spokesperson for South Derbyshire District Council said: "It is with regret that the final Music in the Park event due to be held this Sunday, September 5, has been cancelled.

"We have been encouraged by audience numbers who attended the two previous events and were looking forward to finishing the 2021 summer bandstand programme on a positive note.

"From the feedback gathered, it is clear local residents want to see the bandstand being used regularly/

"So the Council is hoping to extend the summer programme for 2022 and would like to thank everybody for supporting this year's Music in the Park events."
