Swadlincote Police have issued a vote of thanks for a 'trouble-free' weekend despite the hot weather.

Rising temperatures have been a problem so far this summer - particularly as crowds have flocked to South Derbyshire beauty spots such as Foremark Reservoir and the area's parks.

Dangerous parking and excessive littering have all been criticised by police.

Added double yellow lines were painted around the entrance to the reservoir to discourage motorists.

Higher numbers of people have been reported on days when the weather has been good in the weeks following the coronavirus lockdown.

But Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team say they have been pleased with the way people have conducted themselves over the last few days.

They posted on their Facebook page: "THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood & Response officers want to say a BIG thank you to our community for making this HOT weekend relatively trouble free.

"We have been patrolling the parks, Foremark and other areas and met some amazing people and families.

"Thank you for respecting our beauty spots and making our job more enjoyable!"
