Swadlincote Police say they will be clamping down on illegal, inconsiderate and dangerous parking around the areas surrounding local schools.
With most pupils returning to the classrooms this week, police say they will be tackling the problem 'from the start'.
Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood Team posted on their Facebook page to give details of what they are planning to do.
Their message reads: "After what may seem like an eternity for many, it is finally the day that some of our children return to school.
"We understand that, with that, come a lot of varying emotions, mainly excitement or apprehension for both parents and kids.
"Unfortunately for us, it will bring with it an array of problems regarding parking from residents and others.
"As a team, our plan is to tackle these from the start, so we ask that you start as you mean to go on.
"Please park safely, considerately and legally; and where possible park further away from the schools and encourage good habits with your children by walking them part way.
"Our team will regularly be outside schools to ensure the safety of our children, all schools in the area will be included.
"Please speak to us and encourage your children to do so, so that we can foster good relationships with them. We wish all a good and hopefully full school year!"
