Swadlincote Police Say They Will Continue Fight Against County Lines Drug Dealers

By Graham Hill 20th Apr 2020

Swadlincote Police say their battle against 'County Lines' drug dealers has not stopped - despite producing officers producing impressive results in a bid to contain the problem.

Now they are urging the public to look out for any signs of dealers moving back into the area.

Police are also giving support to those who may be targets for suppliers.

Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team posted on Twitter: "As you maybe aware, we as a section have had issues with County Lines drug dealers previously, however a tough response led to a number of successful prosecutions.

'To ensure that this does not impact our area again, our team provide support to those that are more likely to be targeted.

"This is just one of the ways we use to drive out any potential issues."

Now they are urging people to read a leaflet with several signs to look out for in an attempt to stop the problem returning to the area.

They want to hear from anyone who notices the following:

  • Frequent or high numbers of visitors to an address
  • Signs of drug misuse including deal bags and weighing scales
  • People with large amounts of cash or multiple mobile phones
  • Cars pulling up to or near the address for short periods of time

Derbyshire Constabulary also want to hear of concerns about 'Cuckooing' which is when drug dealers take over the home of a vulnerable individual and use it as their base for selling or manufacturing drugs. Anyone with information should phone 101.
