Three men have been arrested after a 12 sheep were killed in a knife attack in Newhall.

The animals - an early Christmas gift for children - had their throats cut in the attack.

BBC East Midlands says HERE that the suspects were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage according to police.

Swadlincote Police had issued photos of men they want to speak to following the knife attack.

They wanted to talk to the men pictured - and you can see the full set of images HERE.

A message on social media says: "Officers are currently investigating an incident where multiple sheep have been killed on Main Street, Newhall between October 30-November 2.

"Below are images from CCTV of some people who may be able to assist us in our investigation.

"If you know who the persons in the images are or if it is a picture of yourself please contact us quoting 20*583541.

"If you were in the area around this time or around the Sunnyside or Chesterfield Avenue area and noticed any suspicious activity please let us know."
