Two men wanted after escaping from Sudbury Prison have been found and returned behind bars by Swadlincote Police.

Hawkins McKay were caught on camera climbing out of HMP Sudbury, Derbyshire, at around 10.15pm on Tuesday, October 10.

One was seen carrying two bags, while the other was seen holding a single rucksack with a towel around his neck.

Hawkins, 34, was jailed at Snaresbrook Crown Court in 2019 for burglary, theft and driving offences.

McKay was convicted at St Alban's Crown Court for burglary and driving offences last year

But Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team's Facebook page revealed today (Tuesday): "Officers appealed for help to find two prisoners who had absconded from Sudbury Prison on 11 Oct 2021.

"Well they did not last long on the run.

"Both Sam Hawkins and Darren McKay were arrested on 15th/16th and dealt with by the SNT.

"Both find themselves back behind bars in a secured prison."
