Swadlincote Police were called to what they have described as a 'kick off in a carvery' on Saturday - which resulted in a family being banned from a restaurant.
Officers say they are employing 'old school policing methods' when it comes to anti-social behaviour.
And they had to put them to use when they had to deal with an 'intoxicated family' at a carvery restaurant in Willington.
Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood Team say the group were abusive to staff after five and a half hours at the venue - and banned as a result of their behaviour.
The SNT Facebook page gave more details and said: "To the intoxicated family who spent five-and-half-hours in a carvery restaurant, near Willington, before abusing staff members – what were you thinking?
"Just before the shift was due to end on Saturday 5 June, an emergency call came in reporting a disturbance at a local pub.
"Information received indicated an angry exchange, near the four roasts on offer.
"Officers attended and it was clear that some members of the family had eaten one Yorkshire pudding too many.
"The family were ejected from the carvery and informed they were banned from the premises.
"Please remember many waiting staff working in the hospitality industry are naturally anxious about the spread of Covid-19.
"It is totally unacceptable to behave in a supercilious manner towards them.
"Officers were joined by colleagues from Swadlincote SNT – and "Chips" were soon on the menu at the carvery, with the presence of Sgt 'Poncherello' Nizzer – prompting the red-faced family, some of senior years, to leave the scene.
"But not before reminding attending officers that the smell of stale alcohol, Brut and High Karate aftershave are an acquired sensation for our nostrils."
