Swadlincote Police say those responsible for 'mindless' damage in Maurice Lea Park in Church Gresley last weekend have been caught on CCTV.

The town's Safer Neighbourhood Team say they 'can expect a knock on the door' - but are also appealing for witnesses.

Police have highlighted two incidents and want members of the public to come forward with information.

Their Facebook post reads: "Over the weekend there have been incidents of criminal damage on Maurice Lea Park, Church Gresley.

"At approximately 2130hrs on Saturday, October 10th, some mindless individuals have snapped four newly planted trees in half causing them to have to be replaced.

"Also at around 1700hrs on Sunday, October 11th, a fire was set under the ping pong tables causing them to smoulder and causing damage.

"If this was you or you know who it was, please get in touch with us quoting the reference 20*537474.

"The council and park wardens have worked hard to maintain our parks for everyone to enjoy.

"SNT officers are viewing CCTV footage from the park which shows the incidents happen, so expect a knock on your door soon, because it will happen!"
