Swadlincote Police had to chase a driver who ran off from his vehicle in Woodville.

The motorist was disqualified and driving without any insurance when officers attempted to question him.

He ran from the scene but Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team police soon brought him back.

The SNT's Facebook page nicknames the officers Batman and Robin and explained what happened.

The post read: "After being stopped by somebody on the High Street this morning saying how much they love our no insurance posts, we thought why not go out and find another one!

"Batman and Robin decided to go one better and found a male driving whilst disqualified and with no insurance in Woodville.

"He scuppered their plans when he legged it from the driver's seat, but luckily he decided to give up when Robin was hot on his heels.

"With assistance from PC Wheldon freshly back from her stint on response, the driver was reported for driving whilst disqualified and with no insurance."
