Swadlincote Police have arrested youths who gave false information when asked why they were breaking lockdown rules at Eureka Park and Newhall Park.

Under a social media post entitled 'Swad Police will not put up with any attitude', the town's Safer Neighbourhood Team have made it clear they intend to clamp down on anyone not sticking to Covid guidelines.

The post reads: "We are getting an increasing amount of reports of youths not abiding to Covid-19 regulation on Eureka and Newhall Park.

"The Safer Neighbourhood team have been out patrolling the parks this afternoon (Monday), and we will always try to engage and explain.

"However, if you give the Sergeant and the team attitude and try to be clever by giving false details,

It's simple.

"You will be arrested until you give us the correct details.

"Then you can explain to your parents why you have been brought home in a marked police vehicle for breaching Covid-19.

"As several youths found out today when they tried and failed with their lies to PC Saddington, PC Simkins, Pcso Edwards and Pcso Hillman .

"Let's not ruin all the good work and sacrifices the vast majority of our community is making by sticking to the rules and guidelines.

"The team will continue to patrol the parks throughout the coming weeks and take positive action when needed."
