A 40 year old woman was arrested after a 'large quantity' of cannabis was found at a property in Newhall last week.

Swadlincote police officers say a door was broken down to gain access to the home in Oversetts Road.

Details of the raid were posted by Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood Team.

They said: "On March 4, the team executed a Misuse of Drugs Warrant at an address on Newhall, entry was gained using our Big Red Key.

"A 40-year-old female was arrested for Cultivation of Cannabis & Possession with intent to supply."

Sgt Tarj Nizzer said: "A large quantity of cannabis has been seized and is now out of circulation, which is really positive for communities.

"Drugs activity can often be linked to wider serious criminality, and that is why we take such issues extremely seriously."

The SNT have listed signs that a cannabis grow may be in your area:

  • A powerful distinctive sweet, sickly aroma
  • Frequent visitors throughout the day and night
  • Blacked out windows
  • Chinks of bright light throughout the night
  • Birds gathering on the roof, particularly in cold weather
  • In winter, snow melting unusually quickly on the roof
  • High levels of condensation on windows
  • Noise from fans
  • Large amounts of rubbish, including compost bags
  • Electricity meter being tampered with/altered and new cabling, sometimes leading to street lighting.
